In its Sept. 10 event, Apple announced it is officially welcoming iOS 7 and letting go of iPhone 5 to "to serve even more customers." Rumoured names iPhone 5S and 5C have been confirmed, too. Australia is one of the first countries to see the new iOS phones. Check out the slideshow for event photos.

Buyers can pre-order the "beautifully, unapologetically plastic" iPhone 5C from Sept. 13 (Friday), and the iPhone 5S from Sept. 20. This applies to phone shoppers in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, UK, and U.S. In a month, Apple "will ship the 700 millionth iOS device." The iOS 7 release date, meanwhile, is Sept. 18.

Apple iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Price; iOS 7

Apple CEO Tim Cook swiftly brought the limelight to iOS 7, saying it "will quickly become the world's most popular operating system." Up next was the iPhone 5C discussion, which took only a bit of time. More time was given to the iPhone 5S.

Apple claims the iPhone 5S is "the most secure phone," thanks to its TouchID feature. The fingerprint scanner, a widely spread rumour, has been confirmed at the event. Goodbye iPhone 5; goodbye passcodes, too.

The iPhone 5C is priced at $99 and $199 (16GB and 32GB) on carrier contract, respectively. The iPhone 5S price is as follows: 16GB, $199; 32GB, $299; and 64GB, $399 - all under contracts. Both the new iPhones come in colours, with "space grey" among the variants. Colourful Apple cases were also showcased - at $29 and $39 (leather).

Apple iPhone 5S, 5C Sept. 10 Event Summary in Three Points

The TouchID is one of the three best news servings at the Apple event. Apple execs also made announcements on the M7-assisted A7 processor and the powered up iSight camera, which now allows better captures in low light conditions.

The A7 chip comes on board the iPhone 5S. And Apple is into the 64-bit system now. This fuels the iPhone 5S for a performance that is "up to twice as fast" as the previous system. M7, a new iPhone part, was introduced, too. It streamlines the A7 processes for better user experience.

iPhone 5S boasts of "True-tone flash," which changes the way the smartphone camera flash interacts with the environment. See the flash difference demo in the slideshow.

The iPhone 4S will stay in the market, and carriers will offer its 8GB variant for free on contract. The Apple Inc. event for the press moved quickly from 9:00AM PDT, lasting only for a little over an hour.

"A few of you have maybe seen a few shots of (iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S) on the web, and that's cool, because everyone's really excited," said Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Apple Inc. It hints of the leaked images released by Sonny Dickson in the recent weeks.

The iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7 took up the most time in the Sept. 10 Apple event. The price of each device unlocked will set more differences for phone shoppers. For now, more talks are expected on the new M7 part, iSight camera, and TouchID fingerprint scanner.
