The iPad Air is hailed as the "Best Mobile Tablet" and the HTC One as the "Best Smartphone" at the MWC 2014.

The annual Mobile World Congress held at Barcelona, Spain for the last couple of days was a revered event organised by the GSM Association where tech giants like LG, Sony and Samsung introduce their latest tech in front of the world's press. Both Apple and HTC were awarded a best in class award for one of their devices - the iPad Air for Apple and HTC One for HTC.

The Taiwanese tech giant will leave the event with its head held high after being given the "Best Smartphone" award. The HTC One competed with the Apple iPhone 5s, Nokia Lumia 1020 and LG G2 smartphones. The panel of judges were made up of more than 175 individuals from various industries. The iPad Air grabbed the award from last year's winner, the ASUS Nexus 7.
