Apple has released a new update for the iOS 8 operating system. The iOS 8.1.3 update brings along many fixes in order to deliver smoother performance. However, CNET claims that the new update does not address the ongoing issues related to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity and battery life.

According to Phone Arena, the new update decreases the requirement of free storage space for installing software updates. Before the arrival of the iOS 8.1.3 update, users required to have a minimum free space of 5.7 GB to install the new edition of software. As of this writing, the iOS 8.1.3 update release notes does not reveal the modified free storage space for installing iOS.

The iOS 8.1.3 solves the problems that users encountered wherein they were unable to login through their Apple ID password on apps like FaceTime and Messages. It also brings a fix that disallowed Spotlight from showing app results.

The iOS 8.1.3 also brings exclusive bug fixes for iPad. Apple iPad users had claimed that it prevented them from making multitasking gestures. This issue has been resolved with the new iOS update. Also, iPads are now being used in the classroom. Hence, the new update brings new configuration options for students.

The previous iOS 8.1.2 update was made available on Dec 9 and now Apple is up with a new update. The OTA update for iOS 8.1.3 will not up simultaneously on different iOS products. It is expected to arrive gradually to all the devices. CNET claims that the adoption of iOS 8 is slower than that of iOS 7. In September 2014, the adoption rate was 14 percent whereas it has slowly moved on to 69 percent in the previous week. It shows that still other users are using older versions of iOS.

CNET highlights that since the time iOS 8 was released in the previous year, several issues have cropped up. The very first update was iOS 8. 0 and soon after its release, Apple had released the iOS 8.0.1 to resolve issues. The iOS 8.0.1 was itself plagued with many bugs because of which Apple had to roll out iOS 8.0.2 and it was subsequently followed by updates, iOS 8.1 and iOS 8.1.2
