As promised, Pangu and @saurik are hard at work to make the latest iOS 8 jailbreak more stable and usable and the collaboration so far has produced this week the 1.0.2 Untethered JB tool and the upgraded Cydia Substrate version 0.9.5015 respectively.

Yet the joint efforts still fall short of expectations by the jailbreak community. According to iDigitalTimes, the Pangu jailbreak at its current form is far from the ideally stable state but is nonetheless workable.

Unsurprisingly too, a number of issues remain part of the package, the publication added, with jailbreak fans sharing the following observed problems:

- App icons that disappear

- Or apps that would not install

- And iTunes that would not sync

- Device freezing

Cydia creator Saurik has acknowledged that problems persist with the Pangu iPhone and iPad unlocker and in his release notes that accompanied substrate 0.9.5015 update, @saurik blamed limitations in Pangu.

While making assurance that "we are coordinating closely with the Pangu team to make certain the best possible fix for this is deployed," Saurik also offered brief explanation of the prevailing iOS 8 jailbreak issues and bits of workaround to temporary deal with them.

- To be clear, the jailbreak and Cydia updates were not able to resolve the freezing problems reported by jailbreak iOS 8 device users, which was caused by the activated passcode. Obviously to bypass this, users will need to disable to passcodes until a better fix becomes available.

- Touch ID has also been identified as culprit for the unwelcome boot loop so users with jailbroken iPhone 5S and up are advised to deactivate the feature for now.

- Incompatible tweaks or jailbreak apps may also cause rebooting so Saurik is recommending on users to be picky or careful on what to download.

- Lastly, the Cydia author is reminding that for 0.9.5015 substrate to start working wonders a respring is required. "On iOS 8: after every reboot, you need to respring before Substrate will load extensions in SpringBoard," Saurik was reported by iDigitalTimes as saying.

The consensus for now among jailbreak experts is the iOS 8 Pangu jailbreak remains a tool that necessitates deeper understanding of the jailbreak concept - its elements and procedures. So jailbreak fans with little or no developer inclination are advised to keep a safe distance until the tool has achieved a more stable stage.
