Apple iOS 8 firmware has been reported by AppleVis on having several bugs and issues ranging from minor to serious degree affecting different aspect of an iOS device's functionality. Most of these are software-related which can be fixed by the maker eventually.

Minor Issues On iOS 8

A very common minor issue on iOS 8 is during the upgrade from iOS 7.1.X that leads the VoiceOver Typing Preference to be forgotten as installation. Other several issues on VoiceOver are listed below:

- Compact voices are triggered when switching between languages.

- Ignores all notifications with the exception of Message app.

- Minimising a draft in the Mail app can cause VoiceOver to act unpredictably such as getting stuck or losing certain elements.

- No feedback when putting a new schedule on the Calendar app. Checking the new time fixes this issue.

Moderate Bugs On iOS 8

Compiled reports from the site included more than ten moderate-level bugs on the iOS 8 which affects several functionality of VoiceOver that are noticeable than the minor issues. Aside from VoiceOver bugs, other issues have been found as well on the App Switcher, home screen and Siri.

1. VoiceOver sometimes won't announce a notification or announce the entire thing not the respective time of a notification.

2. When the phone is locked, VoiceOver could fail to announce the caller ID of the incoming call.

3. Looping of VoiceOver on the Feature Tab of the App Store.

4. VoiceOver can miss announcing number identification of a contact with multiple contact numbers in the App Switcher.

5. Some issues on app icons unable to be moved on the home screen.

6. Adding reminders or events using Siri can leave the virtual assistant to be silent and forget to prompt the user to speak the action necessary.

7. Downloading progress of Alex TTS Voice can turn off VoiceOver temporarily. Re-enable VoiceOver to fix this.

8. VoiceOver keyboard effect does not work on third-party and some stock applications.

9. Sometimes, double tapping the screen to answer an incoming call can resume the audio playback than answering the call.

10. Double tapping sometimes does not work on the purchase button on the iTunes Store.

Serious Issues On iOS 8

So far, seven major issues on iOS 8 have been found and related to Braille options, VoiceOver, Bluetooth connection with the keyboard and the sharing options. Keypad dialling, QuickNav and Handwriting mode are also affected by serious bugs.

1. Changing the Status Cell setting for Braille from "off" can cause VoiceOver to stop working. Turning the cell back to "off" will fix this but the user needs someone who can see it.

2. VoiceOver can fail to movement to scroll the screen on certain applications.

3. Using Bluetooth keyboards can cause duplication or skipping of characters.

4. Sometimes using the Share option to send messages outside the stock Message app will do nothing when double tapping the Send button.

5. Keypad on the dialler can cause repeating DTMF tone due to a stuck key.

6. QuickNav seems to be not working perfectly with a Braille display.

7. Handwriting mode can crash VoiceOver which will restart it but remains handwriting unusable.
