The 2015 International Dota 2 Championships, also known as TI5, comes to a conclusion after a battle between two veteran teams. After numerous battles, the USA team Evil Geniuses became the 2015 champions.

After a grueling six days of the main event matches, two teams remained on the last day of 2015 International Dota 2 Championships. The last match was between Evil Geniuses and the CDEC Gaming from China.

A thorough breakdown of the final match-up between the two teams can be seen at SBNation. Game 1 was won by Evil Genius, who came back from a bad start, with player Suma1l giving away the first blood after getting too greedy during the laning phase. After dying three consecutive times, Suma1l stood ground and began carrying the team deep into the game.

For the second game, CDEC played differently by letting Queen of Pain and Broodmother switch lanes early on in the game. Evil Geniuses was shook by the move, and CDEC took control the entire early game. Just as CDEC was about to take the game, Evil Geniuses rallied later on but was entirely wiped out in a clash near Roshan’s pit. CDEC took on Roshan after Evil Geniuses, then proceeded to end the game.

Game 3 started with Evil Geniuses giving player Suma1l, a hero he’s more comfortable with, the Ember Spirit. Evil Geniuses was aggressive early on, but CDEC fought back with the same tenacity. The gold was near equal for both teams, but experience was on Evil Geniuses side. After struggling mid-game, Evil Geniuses took the win again.

With the scores at 2-1, CDEC needed the win for a tie breaking round but Evil Geniuses secured the win with one of Suma1l’s best heroes, Storm Spirit. He got strong early on, and was very durable late game. The only trouble Evil Geniuses faced, was a farmed up Phantom Lancer. Upon noticing the hero, Evil Geniuses took no chances, ending the game quickly and bagging the $6.6 million (AU $8.9 million) grand prize. Bleacher Report’s complete prize pool lists $55,113 (AU$ 74,567) as the smallest prize.

After six days, the 16 teams whittled down to two. With a final score of 3-1, Evil Geniuses became the 2015 International "Dota 2" Champions.
