Meanwhile, "Insidious 3" is reportedly not based on Lambert family. Regarding the script of the film Whanell said in his recent interview to Screen Rant via (Enstarz),

"[Producer] Jason Blum will probably kill me if I say anything. But I can say that it's not based around the Lambert family anymore, it's not Rose Byrne's character -- which I actually really liked, going back and just wiping the slate clean and starting over again. It felt like writing the first film, 'cause you weren't bound to any particular character. ... It felt really good."

The third chapter in franchise is being developed in conjunction by Entertainment One, Film District, and Sony Pictures Worldwide.

Insidious is a micro budget film. The first part of the franchise was made for only $1.5 million and released in 2010. The film proved to be a box office clincher and made $97 million worldwide.
