Indianapolis Colts linebacker Josh McNary has been arrested on charges of rape on Wednesday after an unidentified woman accused him of the crime which allegedly happened last December 2014.

The official charges against the 6-foot, 251-pound linebacker sare “one count of rape, one count of criminal confinement and one count of battery resulting in bodily injury” according to FOX59. The report stated that the unnamed alleged victim stated to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives that he met McNary in a downtown bar and went with him in his apartment where he allegedly raped her. The woman took McNary’s cellphone and contacted the police after returning home. The full complaint can be found here.
“We are aware that there has been a report about Josh McNary, but unfortunately that’s the limit of our knowledge. At this time we are very concerned and trying to find out what the relevant facts are, but we have insufficient information to venture any opinion. As we learn more we will make appropriate updates,” An official statement from the team stated.

McNary, who played college football with the United States Military Academy, signed with the Colts in 2013 as an undrafted free agent. He has played in a total of 20 games for the Colts and in 2014, when he played 15, he started four games and registered 16 tackles and half a sack. McNary was also the all-time leader in Army in sacks with 28.0 and tackles for loss 49.0 during his college career.

“We would like privacy at this time. We also want justice,” the family of the victim also told the media. The alleged rape accusations come in at an inopportune time for the Colts, which will be facing the New England Patriots on Sunday, Jan. 19 in the AFC Championship game.
