“Indiana Jones 5” is sure to be happening as the film’s release date has been set on July 19, 2019. Fans will be delighted to know that Steven Spielberg will be back in the directorial seat and Harrison Ford is bound to return to reprise his iconic role as Indy.

Dr Henry “Indiana” Jones, the two-fisted archaeologist with a knack for recovering ancient artefacts and punching Nazis, is sure to be back on the big screens. Walt Disney Company has announced the news through an official statement on its website. “Indiana Jones will return to the big screen on July 19, 2019, for a fifth epic adventure in the blockbuster series,” the statement reads.

Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, described the main character in the franchise as one of the greatest heroes in the history of cinema. He also expressed excitement for the fact that Harrison and Steven are teaming up once again.

“It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven,” Horn said. The upcoming film serves as a reunion between the actor and the director who previously worked together for the previous films of the franchise.

Spielberg had earlier teased fans about what to expect in the upcoming film, revealing that Indy is not going to die. “The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison at the end of it,” the director told the Hollywood Reporter. The director is also known for his other works such as “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1977), “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981), and “ET the Extra-Terrestrial” (1982).

Ford, on the other hand, is best known for portraying Han Solo in the “Star Wars” film series. The actor is also recognised for his work, including a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor for “Witness.” On June 2, 2003, he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the film. The official title for the movie is yet to be announced. Avid fans of the franchise have waited for nearly ten years since “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” hit the big screens. “Indiana Jones 5” release date in Australia is expected to be announced in the near future.
