The iPhone 6s is now recognized as one of the more costly smartphones that exist today. It would appear, however, that tech users from a certain Asian country will have to pay more just to get their hands on Apple's latest flagship smartphone.

The iPhone 6s was scheduled to launch in India on October 16, which was only three weeks after the model was unveiled and launched to the majority of the Western tech market. Apart from having to wait longer, Indian customers also have to pay a lot more.

The 16 GB variant of the iPhone 6s can be bought at $955 or AU$1,303 while the 128 GB version of the iPhone 6S Plus is available for $1,415 or AU$1,931. As pointed out by CNET, it would appear Indian buyers will have to pay $306 or AU$417 more for the 16 GB version and $466 or AU$635 more for the 128 GB model of the iPhone 6s Plus.

Although it may seem like Apple could earn more from their loyal clients in India, Tech Times has reported it might actually turn out to be a more costly decision for the Cupertino-based company. After all, by giving their flagship devices price tags that were too high, Apple faces the probability the Indian target market will decide to buy its phones elsewhere.

"Anything above 60,000 rupees is way out of reach for even an average rich urban consumer”, said Neil Shah, the director of India's Counterpoint Research. The price of 60,000 rupees converts to AU$1,263.

Apple's strongest rival in India, Samsung, is selling its current flagship unit, the Galaxy S6, at $615 or AU$839. It must be noted, however, that the best selling devices in India are the cheaper ones with prices that are oftentimes below $200 or AU$272 such as Xiaomi's RedMi series and devices manufactured by Micromax, a local tech company.
