A motley group of London-based music labels are fearing the loss of stocks after a major distribution warehouse got burned to the ground due to the London riots.

A three-storey building in Enfield, North London has been reduced to ashes after several groups of rioters burned the establishment. The Sony DADC-owned building houses the Pias Group, a distribution company that stocks many of the independent labels. Pias Group is the biggest and most successful independent music sales, marketing and distributing company in the UK and its executives are expecting a major setback after the unfortunate event.

"There was a fire last night at the SonyDADC warehouse which services the physical distribution for Pias in the UK and Ireland. Pias is working closely with SonyDADC who are implementing their emergency plans," stated the statement released in the company's website. "Pias's UK offices in London and all other areas of our business are unaffected. More information will be communicated shortly to all our labels and partners."

Pias Group partners 4AD, Warp and Beggars Banquet confirmed that they had stocks in the Enfield-located building, and chairman Martin Mills only had a couple of words to say regarding the incident.

"Horrible, horrible" said Mills in a statement quoted by The Guardian.

Music industry analyst and writer Paul Scaife has low hopes on UK's independent music future because of the fire.

"Physical retail is still absolutely crucial to many in the independent sector and if - as seems quite likely - several smaller labels aren't covered by insurers, this could be the difference between survival and going out of business," said Scaife in the same report posted by The Guardian.

Here's the full list of labels distributed by the Pias Group, whose stocks, sales and futures are in jeopardy:
