There's been a rash of reported UFO sightings in the days leading to New Years and even during the New Year's Eve celebrations with alien ships being spotted all over the world.

In the Western Australian town of Cooloongup, two mysterious orbs thought to be UFOs were captured on video. The video was shot on December 29 by Australian Phenomenon and shows a bright light pass the moon and then abruptly breaks into two pieces heading in different directions.

According to the video's description, it was filmed in the south east using a Yukon Spirit Night Vision attached to a JVC Everio.

"Monocular was kinda out of focus a bit. To focus the whole thing I need to twist the front barrel of the scope and the back eye piece and then adjust the cameras manual focus with tele-macro."

More UFO sightings were reported during the New Years. Weatherwatch.co.nz received almost 80 reports of strange lights in the sky during the New Year's celebration. According to Philip Duncan, an analyst for weatherwatch the spike in UFO sightings could be attributed to the weather and in the 2012 doomsday hysteria.

"At around 12:15-12:20am right after the new year, looked like 2 red stars. One travelled to were the other one had turned off then that one also turned off... I don't drink or use any drugs, I managed to run in the house and show my mom, she seen it also," wrote a person from California.

A report from Spain reads: "My father and I saw them in Spain at 00:45am, but there were 5 or 6 of them all in a vertical line quite close to the earth....I have no answer to all these questions that we are all asking ourselfs and when I think I have an answer it just leads to more questions, so all I have to say is, WE ARE NOT ALONE!"

Elsewhere in the world, a glowing white orb was reported in Taipei, Taiwan hovering above the Taipei 101 building just before the New Year's Eve fireworks display. The sighting was captured on video by Scott C. Waring of UFO Sightings Daily. The video shows the white orb descending from the sky and moving around the 101 building.

The rise in UFO sightings during the New Year's Eve celebrations is easy to explain as nothing more than mistaken fireworks or the results of imbibing too much on alcohol during the New Year's Eve parties. For true believers it means that 2012 is the end of the world- but only because humanity's old way of existence is forever altered when aliens finally make contact.
