The latest addition to the directory of Ikea's stores will also be the biggest in the southern hemisphere.

Ikea's Australian managing director David Hood says as always, Ikea Sydney will get you in and you would want to stay.

The megamart is twice the size of the Sydney Cricket Ground, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. On top of its 9000-product offering, shoppers will enjoy a 760-seat restaurant and 1680 dedicated car spaces.

Ikea will open in Tempe on November 3.

Hood remarks Ikea Sydney is set to recruit about 350 staff from Tempe and its surrounding suburbs.

The Herald reports shopping at Ikea Sydney can be quite an exercise should anyone decide to sweat a day out. A full lap of the store will register 2.5 kilometres on the pedometer. This is just about twice the distance of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The current "biggest store in southern hemisphere" title is held by Ikea Melbourne, which opened six weeks ago.
