If Maria Sharapova Had to Compete in Winter Olympics, She is Going to be a Figure Skater, Says the Russian Tennis Star

How exciting would it be if Russian hottie Maria Sharapova ditch her usual tennis attire and wear one of those figure skating costumes? Sharapova revealed in an interview with LA Confidential Magazine that if she was given a chance to compete in the Winter Olympics, she would be participating in figure skating.

"As a girl, I grew up following figure skating, it is very popular in Russia," said Sharapova.

"The feminine part of me loves the fluidity and power of skating," she added.

"I probably would be a figure skater, but I grew a little too much for that," she also revealed to Bloomberg.

Surely, Sharapova's male fans would love to see her figure skate rather than play tennis. Figure skating is not a sport that is coded as masculine, and Sharapova competing in figure skating is definitely an eye candy.

Sharapova has been chosen by NBC as their correspondent to cover the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. She knew that it was not going to be an easy task, especially because of the fact that this was the first time that she will perform the duties of a reporter. However, Sharapova was extremely grateful for the opportunity of being able to showcase the beauty of the city that she once lived in as a little girl. Sharapova and her family moved to Sochi when she was two years old.

"This is where I started playing my sport, so that is the most meaningful thing for me," said the fifth-ranked tennis player in the world. Sharapova said she love the beauty and the nature of the city.

"It's so special and meaningful for me to be here."

According to Sharapova, she never really thought that the Olympics will be hosted in Sochi. She said that people had no idea where Sochi is or its location in the map, and now that the Olympics is being hosted there, she is optimistic that people would have an idea how special and unique Sochi is.

Sharapova said that she is thankful that she can provide and contribute her viewpoints being an Olympian herself. During the London Olympics, Sharapova won a silver medal so she pretty much has an idea what other athletes are going through right now.

"Every athlete has in incredible journey."
