It is indeed a busy month for actor Ian Somerhalder as he juggles work schedule, guest appearances and his advocacy on environmental causes. The "Vampire Diaries" heartthrob actor, who is currently busy filming Season 5 of the successful CW TV series, is expected to attend the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on August 11 and an Asheville rally on August 24.

Ian and his co-star Paul Wesley are both nominated for the category "Choice TV Actor: Fantasy/Sci-Fi" where they will compete with other nominees like actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles of "Supernatural" and Stephen Amell of "Arrow." The "Vampire Diaries" stars had an amazing ride with their Salvatore characters so the choice on who will take home the surfboard is a tough one.

Ian Somerhalder, 34, may be a cold-blooded vampire on-screen but he is a loving environmental and animal right's activist in real life. The actor will attend as a featured speaker at the "Beyond Coal: A Rally for Our Future" on August 24 in Pack Square Park, Asheville.

WNC Alliance campaign coordinator Anna Jane Joyner confirmed that the Asheville Beyond Coal coalition, including WNC Alliance, Sierra Club, South Wings and Interfaith Power and Light, will host the rally and Showtime network will film the event as part of the "Years of Living Dangerously" documentary series. Climate expert Daniel Abbasi will work on the project with executive producers James Cameron, Jerry Weintraub and Arnold Schwarzenegger

The celebrity correspondents are Hollywood actors Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Harrison Ford and Ian Somerhalder. The documentary series will be looking at the human impact of climate change in a collaborative work between Hollywood actors and producers together with leading journalists as they report on those who were affected and those who are seeking resolutions to global warming.

On his Twitter account, an apparently tired Ian Somerhalder recently shared to his millions of followers an Instagram image of himself "passed out on the floor" because of his hectic schedule. "#throwbackthursdays Last Thursday-Passed out on the floor after early-morning flight to LA Doing a fitting with my brother Michael Paradise in Venice at The Stronghold before Young Hollywood Awards," Ian posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder with the link to his Instagram photo.

Last August 1, the actor took a break from filming Vampire Diaries Season 5 and flew to Los Angeles, California to attend the 2013 Young Hollywood Awards. Ian Somerhalder presented Selena Gomez at the ceremony with the "Fan Favorite Album" and "Most Anticipated Tour" awards.
