Ian Somerhalder has posted a few pictures on social media where he is seen directing “The Vampire Diaries” season 8 episode 8. “We Have History Together” is the name of the episode that is all set to be aired on Friday. As the TV show is coming to an end with this season, the actor has presented his own portrait to co-actor Paul Wesley as a farewell gift.

On Tuesday, Ian Somerhalder posted a picture on his Instagram page where it appears that he is instructing something to his fellow crew members. Pierre, the camera operator is seen with his son, Rohan, in the picture. Part of the caption says, “I loved directing this episode with this incredible team, a family. Truly a family. The two guys behind me on the right are a father&son team.” The picture also features a new stunt man named Tohmas. Ian further elaborates the caption by saying, “We've all grown together on this set for 8 years, building new skills and realizing new talents/passions in ourselves and in one another. Wow. What a ride it's been.”

Another picture posted by Ian shows him gazing at the monitor. Episode 8 is the last episode that Ian will be directing in “The Vampire Diaries” as the show will come to an end with season 8. Hence he writes, “4 days until my episode I directed of #vampirediaries airs Hopefully you can check it out... My last #tvd ep as a director.”

Actor Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan in “The Vampire Diaries,” has been presented with a portrait by Ian Somerhalder as a farewell gift. Ian gifts this to Paul so that he does not forget him after the shows are over.

There are a lot of speculations regarding the series finale of “The Vampire Diaries.” Season 8 episode 8, “We Have History Together,” has been directed by Ian Somerhalder and is expected to be a great episode. The pictures show the hard work put in by Ian as a director. Moreover, Paul Wesley’s farewell gift is a reminder that the cast has been a family while filming the entire TV show. On Friday, the US audience will get to see the show on the CW at 8PM. In Australia, the final season will be telecasted on FOX8.
