Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) may not have a love interest in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 but there will still be a woman in his life. Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) will continue to be an important part of Damon in the new season after Kai Parker (Chris Wood) linked her life to Damon’s girlfriend, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), through a powerful spell.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 spoilers.

In a recent interview with Just Jared Jr. (JJJ), Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham talked about what the fans can expect with the fan-favorite Bonnie-Damon or “Bamon” relationship in the new season. Graham teased that Bonnie, Damon and Alaric (Matt Davis) will not be in Mystic Falls when the CW TV series returns.

Graham told JJJ while on the TVD set in Atlanta, Georgia that the three TVD characters will have to deal with things in their own way by the time they return to Mystic Falls. For Bonnie, the witch will be dealing with the fact that Kai has linked her life to Elena while Damon must protect her and patiently wait for the day that reunites him with Elena.

“Every time he looks at Bonnie, he only sees NOT Elena (Nina Dobrev),” Somerhalder said in the interview with JJJ. Somerhalder further shared that Damon does really care about Bonnie so he will do anything to keep her alive because he knows Elena will be disappointed in him if something bad happens to Bonnie.

The TVD fans can expect Damon and Bonnie to bicker like they did while in the 1994 prison world in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 6. However, Graham thinks Bonnie and Damon will try to help each other cope, while in this unfortunate situation in the new season.

Graham teased it will be interesting to watch the Bonnie-Damon scenes in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 because the two characters feel the same way after losing someone that meant a lot to them. When asked if Damon will find new love, Somerhalder admitted that he does not know how his vampire character is going to end up.

“[Elena] told him to go live your life. He’s determined to be true to her and do good by her,” Somerhalder teased. Meanwhile, Somerhalder spends his free time working on his Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) and attending events to show support on environmental issues as well as animal rights when he is not filming scenes in “The Vampire Diaries.”

AceShowbiz reports that Somerhalder was spotted attending the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Champion of the Earth event with his wife Nikki Reed on Sunday evening, Sept. 27, in New York City. Watch Ian Somerhalder return as vampire Damon Salvatore in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 which will premiere on Thursday night, Oct. 8, at 8/7c on the CW Network.
