Talks of a Season 2 for the British drama “Humans” is reportedly in place as the series marked its Season 1 finale on Monday. While details have yet to be finalised, one of the show’s stars, Colin Morgan, talked about what he thinks would be a good storyline for the new season and also explained why he took on the role of Leo Elster.

Nearing the show’s season one finale, the humans start to learn of the existence of some of the synths having consciousness and Leo Elster is also reunited with his family of synths. In a phone interview with Collider , the actor expressed that he would love to further explore this intriguing end to the first season in Season 2.

“Leo is in a place where his mission to have his family back and to have the world that he wants to create for himself, and in general, looks like it could be possible. I’m highly intrigued by how he goes about that and what affect it will have on everyone else, the world over,” he said.

Morgan plays the complicated character of a man bound by duty to protect his synth family following the death of his father, David Elster, the founder and creator of the synths. In the drama, Leo is half human and half synth. He died during a car accident at the age of 13 but was brought to life by David using the same system mechanics that make up the synths.

Morgan’s character is defined in the show as someone who has little faith in humanity. However, he gained the friendship and support of the Hawkins’ family during his search for his synth mother, Mia.

In his interview with Collider, Morgan acknowledged that playing two opposing character traits in “Humans” was very complex and took some “dark” exploration. However, he also admitted his penchant for characters who are “quite intensely lonely and a bit lost and are looking for some kind of redemptive answer.”

Season 1 of “Humans” ended with more questions being asked than answered. As The Express said, the finale leaves a lot of room for unpredictability as it can take the show’s story in different directions.
