Huawei launches its flagship Mate 9 that includes the latest Android Nougat OS and a number of new technological features. Huawei

Huawei launched its Mate 9 flagship smartphone just over a week ago and followed it up with the Mate 9 Porsche Design. But it seems that the Chinese tech company is not done yet as it has unveiled yet another Mate 9 variant called the Mate 9 Pro. The third Mate 9 model was not seen during the launch event held in Munich.

Huawei officially introduced the Mate 9 Pro along with the regular Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Porsche Design on Monday at an event in its home country of China. The new variant is bound to be a hit among Mate 9 aficionados since it is virtually similar to the Porsche Design, sans the premium bodywork and hefty price tag.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core chipset, which the tech giant calls “the world’s highest performing smartphone processor.” The phone is available in two storage options: 64 GB storage memory with 4 GB of RAM and the more flexible 128 GB internal storage with 6 GB of RAM. The external microSD memory slot is expandable up to 256 GB.

The main snapper of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a second generation Leica dual-lens camera with a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor along with a 12-megapixel RGB sensor. The primary camera has geo-tagging and face detection features. The front-facing 8-megapixel selfie shooter comes with autofocus and sensor-activated shutter. The Mate 9 Pro features a 5.5-inch AMOLED QHD display with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution with 534 ppi pixel density. It runs on Android’s latest operating system, Nougat 7.0, and is backed by a non-removable Li-Po 4,000 mAh battery.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is available in six colours: champagne gold, rose gold, space grey and moonlight silver. The model with 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM comes with a CNY4,699 (AU$909) price tag while the 128 GB + 6 GB variant is priced at CNY5,299 (AU$1,025). The initial batches of the new Mate 9 Pro smartphone will be made available only in China. Huawei has yet to make any announcements regarding its availability in other regions.
