Huawei officially launches its fourth Mate 9 variant called Mate 9 Lite, which should be the most affordable of the bunch. Huawei

Huawei still isn’t done. After already releasing three Mate 9 variants in a span of two weeks, the Chinese tech giant is launching another one. The new Huawei Mate 9 Lite comes after the regular Mate 9, the Mate 9 Porsche Design and the Mate 9 Pro.

The Mate 9 Lite was not announced during the launch event of the Huawei flagship’s first two variants in Germany, just like the recently released Mate 9 Pro. The fourth Mate 9 variant was nonchalantly listed by Huawei on its website on Saturday without information on its availability and price. Judging by its moniker, the Mate 9 Lite is most likely going to be the lowest priced among its group, which basically means it is also going to have the least features.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core chipset. The mid-range phone is available in two storage options: 32 GB storage memory with 3 GB of RAM and the more adaptable 64 GB internal storage with 4 GB of RAM. There is no official word yet if the new Mate 9 variant has an expandable external microSD memory slot.

The main shooter of the Huawei Mate 9 Lite is dual-lens camera with a 12 MP monochrome sensor along with a 2 MP RGB sensor. The primary camera has a phase detection autofocus feature. The front-facing selfie shooter is an 8 MP camera. This is the only Mate 9 variant that doesn’t equip a Leica camera.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite features a 5.5-inch 1080p full HD display resolution. It’s backed by a non-removable Li-Po 3,340 mAh battery. It’s also the only Mate 9 variant that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's EMUI 4.1. The other three models run on Android’s latest operating system, Nougat 7.0.

The Huawei Mate 9 Lite is available in three colours: gold, grey and silver. As mentioned earlier, Huawei currently has not listed the prices of the two Mate 9 Lite storage variants. The company also has yet to make an official announcement on where the Mate 9 Lite will be made available besides its home country of China.
