It is anticipated that Huawei would launch its flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 9 next week, but it turns out that the company wants its customers to sample an appetiser first before savouring the main course. The launch of the Huawei Enjoy 6 is a great prelude, and the budget phone may even persuade potential buyers who are waiting for the Mate 9.

Huawei is progressively making its mark on the mobile phone industry. The Chinese tech company is already the third largest smartphone-maker in the world, just behind giants Samsung and Apple. Huawei has already sold 100 million smartphone units this year, bringing them closer to last year’s total of 109 million, and will likely surpass it. One of the reasons why consumers are drawn to Huawei is the fact that they make low-cost devices that are more than capable, and the Enjoy 6 backs that up.

The Huawei Enjoy 6 will be initially launched on Nov. 1 in the company’s home country of China. The smartphone is priced at a modest CNY1,299 (AU$255) but is packed with competent power inside its metal housing. It features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. The system is motorised by a MediaTek MT6750 64-bit octa-core processor with a clock rate of 1.5 GHz and 3 GB of RAM while being powered by a non-removable Li-Po 4,100 mAh battery. The 16 GB internal storage is decent, but if that’s not enough, the expandable external memory can hold up to 256 GB.

The 5 MP front-facing selfie snapper and the 13 MP primary shooter are surprisingly potent considering the cost of the Enjoy 6. The phone is equipped with a loudspeaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor. It also has 4G LTE support.

The Huawei Enjoy 6 will be available in five colours: blue, gold, grey, pink and white. The initial launch and sale of the phone will be in China. It is not currently known yet if the Enjoy 6 will be made available in other regions. See images of the Huawei Enjoy 6 at GSMArena.
