Chinese manufacturer Huawei has been producing notable phones over the past couple of years under the radar, but their latest addition is something worth looking forward to. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has been called by Android Police as "easily the standout device of IFA 2014," and here's why.

The device features a 6.1-inch screen, with Android Central naming a 1080p resolution. It is available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants, with 2GB and a bumping of 3 GB of RAM models. Buyers can choose from three colors: silver, black and gold. It has an aluminum unibody but it is thin and lightweight at only 185g.

Despite its large screen, the Ascend Mate 7 is easy to handle using one hand, thanks to its amazing design. It can be described as a sturdy and strong handset with 95% body metal. It is comfortable to hold because it has a slightly curved rear.

One of the awesome features of Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is its fingerprint scanner located at the rear of the device. This feature will build an image of the user's print, suggesting to have the user's finger scanned at different angles. This feature is very impressive because of its accuracy and speed.

The fingerprint scanner lets users unlock the device quicker, as well as secure other folders and applications on the phone. Android Central notes that Huawei's CEO, Richard Yu, made a big deal out of this during IFA 2014, and for good reason: competitors Samsung and Apple also have fingerprint scanning features that still require work.

When talking about battery life, this smartphone lets you choose from three battery modes to make sure that users have enough power for a long period of time. It has options for normal, smart, and ultra saving power. Another pretty good thing about using Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is its camera. The P7 13MP camera available in this device takes crisp pictures.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 provides an option of using a microSIM or a nanoSIM, with the tray also being compatible for microSD. This is because the device is a hybrid, and it ready for dual-SIM functionality. Both slots are 4G capable, giving users fast data connection.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has an impressive octa-core Kirin 925 processor. Its performance and efficiency may not be as fast as the competitors, and lags may happen, but a quick reboot can immediately solve this problem.

The only issue using this smartphone lies in hitting the metal power/lock and volume buttons to function properly, which is a minor complaint at most. Still, the device remains to be a powerful beast, and is something worth looking forward to.
