Even though HTC smartphones such as the HTC One M7, HTC One M8 and all the other HTC One series phones have gained immense popularity, the global market share of the Taiwanese tech company still has gone down considerably. According to industry analysts, the market share of HTC has fallen below 2%.

According to Forbes, the beginning of 2014 was quite good for HTC. The HTC One M8, which came out in April, was successful. By the middle of the year, Sprint announced that it will be supporting HTC handsets running on Android OS. This again helped in boosting the sales of HTC smartphones. Also, HTC worked with Google to build the Nexus 9 tablet.

In the second quarter of 2011, HTC managed to gain lost grounds by recording a global market share of 10.7 percent. However, now it has sunked under 2 percent. Forbes claims the downfall for HTC is going to continue by the end of the year. Industry experts claim that the market share of HTC can further drop down to 1.4 percent.

HTC products are receiving positive reception, so what can be the reason behind the significant drop in market share? According to PhoneArena, the major reason why the company is failing to uplift its market performance is HTC's dismal marketing strategies for its feature-rich smartphones.

PhoneArena highlights the infamous Robert Downey Jr ad campaign of HTC for marketing the HTC One M7 in the previous year. This year, the commercial ads featuring Gary Oldman did not also help in advertising the company's flagship smartphone. The HTC One M8 ads reportedly do not help in revealing the features of the handset. After the success of HTC One M7, there was reportedly a huge hype before the release of HTC One M8.

According to PhoneArena, if the Taiwanese tech giant adopted a different advertising strategy, it could have achieved huge sales. HTC phones reportedly do not have any significant issue, but the poor advertising strategy adopted by the company is the reason why the audience does not know the potential of HTC smartphones. By focusing on this issue, the global market share of HTC can be improved considerably, opines the site.
