According to the latest news, the upcoming 2015 flagship smartphone from HTC will not be called the HTC One (M9). Instead, the device will be referred as "HTC Hima."

A credible and reliable tipster among the lines of @evleaks is the @upleaks and this twitter handle states that the successor to the well-received HTC One (M8) will not follow the existing naming convention. Also, the current codename hinted by the tipster is HTC Hima smartphone. Also it is worth noting that the HTC Hima release date is set for March 2015. Notably, the upcoming flagship device will be offered by all major U.S. carriers, according to Phone Arena.

Earlier rumours suggested that the HTC One(M9) will come with a 5.5-inch display complemented by 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution and will be powered by a Snapdragon 805 chipset. Nevertheless, @upleaks says the HTC Hima will feature a 5.0-inch display with 1080p resolution. Also, in the place of Snapdragon 805 SoC, an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, clocked at a combination of four 2.0 GHz cores and four 1.5 GHz cores will be powering the flagship device. Plus, the whole configuration will be held together by a good 3 GB of RAM. On the software side, the handset will reportedly run on Google's latest Android v5.0 Lollipop OS with HTC's Sense v7.0 UI on top of it.

In addition to the ultra-powerful processor, the upcoming handset will also reportedly support VoLTE/CA/LTE Cat. 6. Moving on to the camera configuration, there will be a killer 20.7 MP rear-facing unit housed in the phone, giving competition to the Sony Xperia Z3. Plus, there will either be a 13 MP front-facing snapper or a 4 MP UltraPixel camera unit at the front. Lastly, this incredible handset will come equipped with a 2,840 mAh battery unit. Here is the tweet by @upleaks confirming the specifications of the HTC Hima:

HTC Hima:S810 2.0GHz*4+1.5GHz*4, 3GB RAM, 5" FHD, VoLTE/CA/LTE Cat.6, 20.7MP(front 13MP or UltraPixel 4MP), 2840mAh, Android 5.0/Sense 7.0:)

On the other hand, HTC will also cater to the price-conscious customer segment by introducing an inexpensive version of the flagship called "HTC Hima Ace." If reports are true, this device will only be released in China and this will be a dual-SIM phone.

What do you think of the upcoming HTC Hima? Is HTC taking a risk by not improving the display size and resolution of the device? Feel free to leave a comment.
