With the success of One M8, speculations couldn't help but name the device as One M9, which follows the model numbering from previous years. There is very little information about HTC One M9 but hunches about the new device are spreading out so quickly.

Despite the numerous whispers about the M9 and the hype that it brings to consumers, it is good to note that there could be some interesting details that might already been revealed. The following information can be considered that could support the speculations behind HTC One M9, based on Pocket Lint's report.

One M9 Release Date

HTC has the track record of putting-up big events to hold its product launches as in the case of HTC One M7 and M8, it is expected that M9 will receive the same treatment. With the company's tradition, the new flagship device might be launched around February or March in time for the World Congress, which will be held on March 2 to 5 of 2015. The One M8 was launched last March 25, 2014 and it could be expected that M9's release will be aligned to M8's

One M9 Design and Build

There is very little information about the design and build of the rumoured device but fans and spectators expect that the quality and construction of the M9 will be at par if not, better than that of the M8. It is predicted to sport an aluminum 7mm thick body designed to comfortably fit the hand.

The HTC One M8 features the IPX3 making the device splashproof but with the Desire Eye adapting the IPX7, many suspect that the company will also inject the said feature to the M9. This move will also keep HTC's competitive edge against rivals like Samsung and Sony.

One M9 Display

Speculations say that the M9 will have a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with 564ppi or about 2560x1440pixel resolution, which seem to follow the display quality of LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4. But then again, the resolution is just a speculation but the 5.2-inch screen has bigger chances of being correct. Others hope for a QHD resolution like that of Nexus 6 but that would result to more stress to the battery.

Under the Hood of One M9

HTC One M9 is could run with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with 3GB of RAM, which will make-up a very powerful flagship device. The 805 is currently found inside the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4.

Since this is just a speculation, it is also possible that the M9 could be powered by the octo-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 and it comes with Adreno 430 graphics which claim to be 30 percent more impressive than the Adreno 420 found in 805.

HTC Sense 7and Android 5.0 Lollipop

Sense 6 devices will be receiving the Lollipop before M9's launch so it is more certain that the M9 will launch with Android 5.0 as its platform plus the newer version of the Sense. HTC is currently active in offloading some apps from the core OS to Google Play to receive more frequent updates. However, with the release of the Sense 7 users can expect the changes in some of the company's top apps.

One M9 Cameras

The camera is obviously one of the best selling points of the HTC M8 and its successor is believed to have the same focus. Some speculations say that the duo camera in the M8 might be replaced by an UltraPixel sensor at 8 megapixels but the 13megapixel sensor is also possible like that of HTC Desire Eye. Optical image stabilization and optical zooming might be HTC's next step to upgrade its cameras.

According to Ecumenical Views, the HTC One M8 has been successful in receiving good reviews from techies but has failed to connect to consumers in terms of sales, unlike LG G3 which did well in both aspects. Despite the weak sales, HTC still gained better profit on the third quarter thanks to the implementation of some cost-cutting measures. HTC needs to make sure to have a balance of impressing both experts and consumers in order to catch-up in the neck to neck battle in the smartphone arena.
