The Canadian version of the HTC One M9 will get its first taste of Android 6.0 Marshmallow next year. While the One M9 is scheduled to get marshmallow update this January, other premium smartphones will follow suit.

The announcement came in after Mr. Mo Versi, president of product management at HTC answered to a query where he revealed that the One M9’s to receive marshmallow update early next year. Among other phones, the HTC One A9 also got Android 6.0 marshmallow update most recently.

A few weeks back, Telus Mobility, one of Canada’s three biggest carriers announced software update for One M8 and One M9. According to the released-schedule, the One M8 will get marshmallow update on the 17th of this month, while the One M9 will get the latest version on 21st of January.

This means that the flagship model M9 is ready for the much-awaited update next month. The new update is expected to bring many new amazing features, even though it’s an incremental update over Lollipop, states Android Headlines.

Marshmallow update features include app permissions manager, Google Now on Tap, fingerprint scanner, intuitive volume controls and Doze. The latest battery saving feature ‘Doze’ puts a phone to sleep when it’s running low-priority apps or when you’re not using your phone.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes native support for 4K display resolution useful for devices that sport 4k display for phones like Xperia Z5 Premium from Sony. As for the HTC One M9, those planning to buy the phone should have a look at the features.
