Google has already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its Nexus line but other manufacturers have yet to release the firmware. The Android 5.0 Lollipop for HTC One M7 and One M8 were scheduled to receive the program weeks ago but roll out has been delayed. According to latest information, the launch should be done this week but dates have yet to be finalized.

HTC announced that the update should be available sometime this week although the final date has yet to be released. Last November 30, HTC's VP of Product Management Mo Versi said on Twitter that the Android 5.0 firmware will be arriving this week. However, dates have passed on without the software. According to the HTC official, the software was delayed because of a number of fixes needed to be included addressing bugs. He also mentioned that the big fixes "are in Google's QA lab."

There are no reports yet about the Lollipop firmware hitting any terminals as of the moment. Users are advised to wait for an update notification sometime soon. Similar to other Android roll outs, the release should be done in stages. Others may have earlier access while some may be delayed.

For those who have received the update, they simply need to tap on the update prompt and proceed with installation. To check for update manually, people can open About phone > System updates > Check now. The Android 5.0 Lollipop is the latest major update from Google. It promises a radical change in the design interface promoting a flatter feel. However, as with the Nexus roll out, some users have complained about WiFi connectivity issues, battery drain and lagging devices. Google has to address all reported problems permanently.

According to Phone Arena, only around 0.1% or just a fraction of Android devices are running on the update as of the moment. Analysts think that it will take Google and other Android manufacturers a year before they can finish the roll out completely. Users are advised to stay tuned to their respective manufacturers and carriers.
