HTC recently announced that its HTC One M9 (unlocked) model will start receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the US. The operating system update will be available for download via OTA (over-the-air).

Vice President for Product Management at the HTC Mr. Mo Versi recently posted the announcement on Twitter. He wrote that the latest security updates will be sent over-the-air to the HTC One M9 devices and that the update will be available for download in the next 24 hours. The update will include new improved features for the camera. Earlier this month, Mo Versi announced the OS update for the HTC One M8 unlocked owners.

The new software update brings with it a number of amazing features of which Doze and Now on Tap are the most notable. Both features are meant to boost the performance of your device. Doze is recognized as an intelligent battery management option that senses phones when they are idle and saves the battery from power loss. A phone usually loses about 20 to 25 percent on battery power during the entire night while the Doze feature helps reduce the same battery power loss just from three to five percent.

Google Now on Tap is yet another big feature in the new OS update. It offers time-sensitive information, notifications and reminders. This means the Now on Tap feature reads the keyphrase that you have typed in to search so as to show you information only relevant to the keywords. The other features included in the software update are related to design and visual changes, system and performance features, a phone’s security and usability, as observed Android Pit.

Google first started sending the Marshmallow update to Nexus handsets. Eventually, a host of other devices from popular companies like Sony, Motorola, Google, LG and Samsung started receiving the updates. A post by Android Pit shows update availability for the different devices.
