CyanogenMod 10 Developer Preview

Nova Fusion posted the Developer Preview of CyanogenMod 10.0 for the Samsung Galaxy Core which can be flashed using the custom recovery TWRP. However, due to its Developer Preview stage users are notified regarding some instability or functions not meant to work at this time.

Here are the notable features from the CM 10.0 Developer Preview release:

- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS

- 2D/3D hardware acceleration

- GPS and A-GPS

- Sensors

- Wi-Fi

- Native tethering on Wi-Fi and USB

- CPU sleep mode

- Media Transfer Protocol

- Kernel version 3.4

- External storage

- Video playback

Camera app, RIL errors on I8260 and I8262, and Bluetooth functionality are notable issues found on this firmware release.

Requirements

1. Use this custom ROM to the Samsung Galaxy Core only.

2. Manually backup all of personal information, settings and data files stored on the smartphone.

3. Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 per cent before flashing the ROM.

4. Download and install the necessary USB drivers for Galaxy Core on the computer.

5. Enable USB debugging mode which can be found under the Settings menu.

6. Root the device and install the TWRP custom recovery on the smartphone.

7. Download the CyanogenMod 10.0 Android 4.1.2 to the computer.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Core to the computer using a USB cable.

2. Copy and paste the CyanogenMod 10.1 custom ROM to the microSD card of the device. No need to extract the zip file.

3. Turn off the smartphone then reboot into recovery mode by pressing and holding volume up, home and power keys at the same time till the Samsung logo appears.

4. Create a nAndroid backup of the current ROM by selecting "backup and restore > backup." It can be used to restore the device to the old ROM.

5. Perform a full wipe. Select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition." Then select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

6. Install the CyanogenMod 10.0 by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > search for the zip file > confirm installation."

7. After the installation, go back to the main menu then select "reboot system now."

8. Wait for at least five minutes till the device reaches the home screen.
