Dreamworks celebrates their 20th-year anniversary by releasing an early special screening of "How to Train Your Dragon 2" in the Annual Cannes Film Festival on Friday, May 16. The sequel is a follow up to its 2010 original film which earned $420 million global box office hit.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 expands into a larger scope in many aspects. The film starts off on the mythology of the original story and moves forward into a new adventure. The main protagonist named Hiccup Horrendous gets to meet his mother, and teaches him some new tricks and lessons about the dragons. The action scenes in the movie are a sight to behold, which included more different dragons and characters.

According to entertainment posts and critics, the animation of the sequel has greatly improved, making the texture of the characters, and the overall environment more vivid. Along with the improved animation effects, Toothless' improvements like his dragon spikes impressed the viewers.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 shows Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) discovering a team of dragon-trappers in a far-off land. Drago Bludvist (Djimon Hounsou) leads the army who later unfolds his plot with his amassed number of dragons. Eret (Game of Thrones' Kit Harington), who is one of Drago's trappers, finds himself troubled with his loyalty when he finds out Drago's plans.

Hiccup meets his mother for the first time. Her mother first appears as a hermit wearing a mask, who later introduces herself as Valka (Cate Blanchett). Valka answers Hiccups questions about the past and warns him of an impending domination of dragons.

Later, Hiccup and Toothless once again work together to aid in the battle of the Vikings and dragons for everybody's future.

The action sequences are "armrest-gripping fun," reported The Telegraph. The action scenes were so great that the early viewers wished some of the shots were prolonged for them to enjoy the beautiful graphics.
