When posting on Facebook, you can conveniently let people know where you are by setting up your location settings. Especially when using a mobile device, the feature will be very useful if you wish to inform people about your whereabouts. But, sometimes, you don't really relish in the fact that everyone knows where you are. Here are the steps to set up and undo your location settings on the social media site.

How to Share Your Current Location

You can add your location to your post to tell contacts that you are at a certain place using the setting.

1. At the bottom of your “Update Status” box, you will find four icons. Click the Location icon at the last, after the Smile icon. When you hover your mouse over the Location icon, a description will appear saying “Add a location to your post”. Click the icon.

2. Type the name of the location or place where you currently are. Facebook will also provide a list of suggested locations that you can easily click to complete.

3. Click the name of the location then add it to your post.

4. Your post will indicate your current location, letting your contacts know where you are.

How to Remove Your Location from a Post

1. Go to your post on your Timeline which stated your location.

2. Click the arrow pointing down then choose “Edit Post”.

3. Hover your mouse over the location then click “x” to remove it.

4. The post will no longer be visible on your Timeline.

More Tips on How to Turn Off Location Settings

PCAdvisor notes that the fastest and easiest approach to turn off your location settings is to follow the steps below:

1. Go to your phone’s privacy settings.

2. Turn off the location services. Location services on mobile devices and phones generally use GPS and crowd-sourced Wi-Fi to triangulate your current or approximate location.

3. You will also prevent other social media sites from showing your location when you set it off.

Only turn off location services for Facebook, instead of shutting it down for the entire device if you prefer to still use other location or weather apps.
