The latest casting news on the "How I Met Your Mother" spin-off series reveal that actor Anders Holm gets cast in CBS' "How I Met Your Dad" as a male lead character. TV Line initially broke the casting news on Friday, March 14, about the "Workaholics" star landing the role of Gavin, the soon-to-be ex-husband of lead character Sally that actress Greta Gerwig will portray.

"The Workaholics vet and Mindy Project alum is joining CBS' How I Met Your Mother offshoot pilot, How I Met Your Dad in the recurring role of Gavin, the (soon-to-be-ex) husband of Greta Gerwig's soulmate-searching Sally," TVLine's exclusive report reads.

The Examiner report noted that joining the spin-off series "How I Met Your Dad" will not affect Anders Holm's work in "Workaholics" that currently airs Season 4 on Wednesday nights at 10/9 pm CT on Comedy Central. Other stars that recently joined the CBS spin-off series include "Masters of Sex" actor Nick D'Agosto who will portray Frank, the head of IT for the fashion blog of the character named Juliet, Sally's best friend, which "Smash" actress Krysta Rodriguez will portray.

Andrew Santino is set to make a guest appearance in "How I Met Your Dad" as Danny, an uptight lawyer and Sally's older brother. The report further noted that Andrew Santino's casting is in second position to the role he portrays in ABC's sitcom "Mixology" while Nick D'Agosto will carry on as a regular cast member in Showtime's "Master of Sex."

"How I Met Your Dad" has been described as the "kindred spirit" of the "How I Met Your Mother" series circling around the new group of friends living in New York City. This time, the story will be told from Sally's point of view on relationships as she wraps up her 1- year marriage with Gavin after finding out that she has little in common with her husband.

The Digital Spy report claims the "How I Met Your Dad" spin-off characters will be making their debut appearance in the "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 hour-long series finale that is scheduled to air on Monday night, March 31, 9 pm central time on CBS.
