How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 4, "The Broken Code," brings together Ted (Josh Radnor) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) 51 hours before the wedding. The bros talk about the HIMYM Season 8 carousel incident with Robin (Cobie Smulders) as Marshall (Jason Segel) mediates. Noticeably missing (again) is Cristin Milioti, who has been revealed to be the titular mother.

Barney to Ted: 'There you were, in the rain, holding hands with my fiancee'

Ted finally approaches Barney after avoiding him for some time. Since having a moment with Robin when she went digging for her "something old," Ted's been feeling somewhat guilty if not wretched. It turns out Barney's been waiting for him to man up.

Swarley wastes no time in bringing up the holding-hands-in-the-rain carousel incident. So he asks Ted, point-blank, "What up?!"

"Nothing up! Everything down. All. Parts. Of Me. Down!" Ted quickly gathers words together.

In How I Met Your Mother Season 9, Episode 4, "The Broken Code," HIMYM fans learned that before Jesus' 3-Days-Rule, there was "Broses." As usual, everything gets sorted out in many funny ways. But Barney makes sure Ted is subjected to some punitive measures. In the end, their bromance remains intact.

However, Ted keeps one thing from Barney: It was Robin who reached out. Those who saw "Something Old" (How I Met Your Mother Season 8, Episode 23) saw it was Robin holding Ted. How they broke it off is up to the fans imagination - for now.

How I Met Your Mother Showrunners, Y U No Show Cristin Milioti in Episodes 3 and 4?

While the boys are discussing the Bro Code, re-enacting the carousel incident, and playing Weekend at Barney's, Lily (Alyson Hannigan) pushes Robin to make friends with women.

At this point, many viewers expected to see Cristin Milioti, probably sitting nearby or emerging from the corner of the frame. Many viewers were wrong. And disappointed.

Cristin Milioti has been off the narration for two episodes in a row now. Perhaps Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and the rest of the creatives will make up for it in the next episode.
