Thousands of fans, who still cannot accept what happened in the "How I Met Your Mother" series finale last Monday night, March 31, are now on a petition demanding for the ending story to be altered. The online petition at Change.org simply wants the HIMYM writers to rewrite and reshoot the ending.

As of Thursday, the Daily News report claims the online document has already reached over 8,000 signatures asking the CBS sitcom creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas to change the ending. (Spoiler Alert!) The fans obviously want Tracy McConnell (The Mother), portrayed by Broadway star Cristin Milioti, to live so Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) will not end up with Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders).

In the Change.org petition to CBS, the brief message pointed out that the ending is "just wrong." The petition reads: "To: CBS Rewrite and reshoot the HIMYM ending. Sincerely, [Your name]."

HIMYM fans continue to express their disappointment over the major twist in the series finale. One unnamed petitioner wrote: "You completely betrayed us."

Another unnamed petitioner pointed out that "fans deserve a proper ending." According to the National Post, the annoyed HIMYM fans even created their desired "How I Met Your Mother" ending video clip and shared it on YouTube.

The video clip completely cut out the part where Ted showed up at Robin's apartment with the blue French horn and the two ended up rekindling their relationship. Instead, the fan-made HIMYM ending clip, which has already been taken down, showed Ted and Tracy talking to each other for the first time under the yellow umbrella, then Ted finally told his kids "And that's how I met your mother" before fading out to black.

Meanwhile, series creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have been responding to the negative reaction that the "How I Met Your Mother" series finale received through their Twitter accounts. According to Craig Thomas' tweet, they wrote the finale episode "Last Forever" with life's twists and turns on their minds and that is "not always what happens." Despite the criticisms, Carter Bays still thanked the HIMYM fans in his Twitter account @CarterBays for their support.

Thank you to #HIMYM fans everywhere for the amazing loyalty and team spirit. You guys are the absolute bestest. Highest of fives to you all.
