“How to Get Away with Murder” actress Viola Davis has revealed during her “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” guest appearance what she does to keep her mom from watching ABC’s legal drama series because of her sex scenes. Davis, 50, also talked about her acceptance speech after winning in the “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” category at the 2015 Emmy Awards.

Entertainment Weekly (EW) reports that Davis admitted to host Jimmy Kimmel about preparing her emotional acceptance speech at the Emmys with two quotes she could go with during her guest appearance on the show’s Tuesday episode. “I said, ‘If I go with the Harriet Tubman, they may think it’s militant. Or I could go with the other quote, but they may be confused. Let me go militant’,” Davis shared.

Davis even participated in Kimmel’s video that illustrates the dangers of texting while walking on the streets. During the interview, Davis also revealed what she does to keep her mom from watching ABC’s legal drama series “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2.

When Kimmel asked how she feels with HTGAWM character Annalise Keating’s new female love interest, Davis admitted she is still uncomfortable with her sex scenes in the show. Davis further added that she does not want her mom to watch her scenes with Famke Janssen, who portrays Annalise’s former flame Eve Rothlow in the show, so she gives her mom some money to go to the casino every Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Davis finally gave her response to the criticism of soap opera actress Nancy Lee Grahn on Twitter for her momentous win and speech at the 2015 Emmy Awards. Davis explained in The New York Times interview that if there has been any backlash on her acceptance speech, it is because that all people want to feel included in it.

When asked if her statement was a call out to Grahn, who did not feel she was included, Davis agreed. “I don’t know that I want to say more about that,” Davis further added.

The next episode of “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2 will be featuring the preliminary hearing of Detective Nate Lahey (Billy Brown), who was framed for the murder of Annalise’s husband Sam Keating (Tom Verica), as well as Annalise’s fate after getting shot in the ending scene of the premiere episode. “How to Get Away with Murder” Season 2, episode 2 titled “She’s Dying” airs on Thursday night, Oct. 1, at 10/9c on ABC.
