Cleaning your iPhone can be easy as long as you know the right household tools and products to use. You can save more by using the things you already have in your kitchen or bedroom, as well as avoid damaging the device by using very potent commercial substances. Here are some tips on how to clean your iPhone using basic household items.

1. Get the right cloth. Use a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use cloths that can scratch or damage the iPhone screen such as paper towels and abrasive cloths. Microfiber cloth is also a good material to use for cleaning.

2. Use water and rubbing alcohol. According to Mashable, you can prepare a mix consisting of 40 percent isopropyl rubbing alcohol and 60 percent water. Moisten the corner of your soft cloth using the water-alcohol mix. Do not spray or apply the mixture directly on your phone. Gently wipe your phone with the cloth and small amount of the mixture. The alcohol will eliminate bacteria and other microorganisms. Use the dry portion of the cloth to remove the excess mixture and completely dry your device.

3. Use distilled water and white vinegar. Another good combination involves mixing 50 percent distilled water and 50 percent white vinegar. Moisten the corner of the soft cloth with the mixture. Do not spray or apply the mixture on your iPhone to avoid damaging it. Also keep moisture away from the crevices and other openings to prevent damaging the internal components. Wipe your iPhone gently using the cloth. Use the dry portion to wipe off any excess mixture and completely dry the device.

4. Cotton buds. You may also use cotton buds to gently clean your iPhone and to keep moisture from entering any openings. Cotton buds allow more precision when cleaning edges and tiny parts. Do not attempt to open your iPhone during the cleaning process.

Keep liquids away from the product and remove any cables or accessories from the iPhone before cleaning. Turn your iPhone off while cleaning and do not use solvents and aerosol sprays which can damage the material and screen permanently. Thoroughly clean your device at least once a month.
