Olympian turned reality TV star Bruce Jenner has finally come out and admitted that he is transitioning into a woman. The revelation came through an exclusive one-on-one interview with Diane Sawyer on ABC’s “20/20.” Now that the public knows about his gender identity crisis, Bruce talks about how he told his children about it and their respective reactions.

Bruce Jenner has a large brood of kids. He is the patriarch of the extremely popular Kardahsian-Jenner clan which is still steadily growing both in number and in popularity. Bruce has six biological children namely Burt and Cassandra with his first wife Chrystie Scott, Brandon and Brody with his second wife Linda Thompson and of course, Kendall and Kylie both with his most recent wife, Kris Jenner. Bruce was married to Kris the longest, staying together for 23 years before separating and eventually filing for divorce. Bruce also stood as the stepfather to Kris’ four children from her previous marriage: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian who hardly need any introduction.

Bruce explained during his interview with Sawyer that all of his three ex-wives knew about his cross-dressing and his gender identity struggle. Some of his children had caught him cross-dressing in the past but it was only recently that he really opened up to them. He says that telling them was terrufying.

“As much of your upbringing was her much as it was the he side.” Bruce explained to is kids. He also told them that he will always be there regardless of his appearance or his gender identity. Bruce explained that despite his efforts, the revelation was still met with tears. However, he says that the tears were born out of his children’s protectiveness of their father. Likewise, Bruce says that through his journey, his main concern is not to hurt his family. His children all had different reactions but overall, everyone was supportive.

Burt Jenner admits that the news was hard for him. He is supportive of his father but stil struggles with little details like what to call his dad. Burt’s sister Cassandra was worried when Bruce spoke to her. She felt some relief when he said that she can still call him “Dad.” She says that she is proud and inspired by him and his admission.

Brandon says that he is getting an “upgraded version” of his dad. He also admits that being so close, he had seen little clues along the way. Brody spoke about how Bruce became distant during the years when he was struggling with his gender identity. He has brought up his issues with Bruce several times on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and now things are clearer to him. He finally understands what his father was going through at that time. Bruce admitted that back in the 80’s he sought out a therapist who recommended that he take hormone replacement therapy in order to help him transition into a woman. He took hormones for about five years before stopping and re-marrying.

The big surprise is that Kendall and Kylie caught Bruce cross-dressing long before he actually came out to his children. He says that they installed security cameras in their rooms and found some footage of him trying on a dress. Bruce says that once they had the talk, all the girls were concerned about ws protecting him from the other people who might hurt him due to his gender identity.

Among the Kardashian children, Bruce says that Kim is the most accepting and easiest to talk to about his struggle. He says that she had also caught him cross dressing in the past and with the help of her husband Kanye West, Kim has been more open and supportive about him and his identity.

Kourtney is also supportive but is understandably concerned about her three young children and what she would tell them. Bruce is now the only grandfather that Kourtney’s kids Mason, Penelope and Reign will know because their other grandfather from Scott Disick’s side has passed away.

Bruce shares that among all the children, Khloe is taking the news the hardest. Khloe has had problems dealing with the loss of some of the most important men in her life including her own father and the failure of her marriage to Lamar Odom. Despite this, Khloe was one of the first Kardashians to react just after the interview aired. She posted a supportive message on her Instagram site showing a photo of Bruce and the word "BRAVE" written across his chest.
