The “Hey Siri” feature is one of the most unique elements in an iPhone 6. The new iOS 8 allows you to do a variety of tasks without having to press and toggle your smartphone. You can conveniently use voice commands to navigate and perform through different apps. Here are the steps to activate Siri on your iPhone 6.

1. Check if you have iOS 8. Generally, your iPhone 6 will already have iOS 8 installed. If it happens that you do not, download the OS then update via a Wi-Fi network.

2. You should first unlock your phone to go to the home screen.

3. Go to “Settings” then “General”. Search for the “Allow Hey Siri” field then change the switch beside it to activate the feature.

4. You can also adjust other settings for Siri, such as changing Siri’s voice and providing more details about your first and last name.

5. The hands-free feature will only function when your iPhone 6 is plugged to a power source, such as a USB port on a computer or a wall charger. If the smartphone is not plugged in, the feature will not work. This happens because your iPhone 6 is required to listen to your voice commands. It will be needing more power from the battery when the hands-free feature is active.

Using Hey Siri

1. Once “Hey Siri” is activated and your iPhone 6 plugged in, say “Hey, Siri…” followed by your specific voice command. You can have Siri do a variety of functions such as playing a song or calling a person in your contacts list. Siri can also set reminders, check the weather and read your emails.

2. Be familiar with voice commands, such as “call”, “read”, “play” and many more. You can actually use conversational language to have Siri perform tasks on your iPhone 6. Talk to Siri as if you were commanding your own secretary.

Learning and mastering the voice commands will take some time and practice but you will realize how useful and more intelligent Siri has become in the iPhone 6.
