Honda has taken the initiative to introduce the Honda connect for drivers who have interest in their smartphones. Honda officially announced Honda Connect, the new infotainment system which will be powered by Android and NVIDIA's Tegra auto grade processor.

This move was to make Honda Connect more functional and efficient for drivers while driving the vehicle. This infotainment system is in compliance with the requirements of the automotive industry. It will debut in three Honda's new models the Honda Civic, Honda Civic Tourer and the Honda CR-V. These three cars are scheduled to launch next year. Honda connect will run on Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.4 and will roll out in Europe in early 2015. This system can be loaded with Android smartphone apps. These apps are utility apps that will blend with the car to give a wonderful driving experience. This will be safe as well as within the guidelines of the automotive industry.

NVIDIA's General Manager for Automotive Rob Csongor stated that Honda is bringing NVIDIA's advanced mobile technology to a new segment of vehicles. He also went on to add that there will be a touch of personalization giving the driver the complete freedom to customise the screen on the Honda Connect to make it his own. According to Android Headlines, this makes sense as Android is basically built for personalization so for Honda to include this in the option is something very special to make the system a personal thing.

The infotainment system will sport a 7 inch capacitive touch screen display for interaction. This will be used for navigation, radio, satellite, vehicle data and the rear view camera that will give the full view while the vehicle is backing up. This makes it more convenient while backing up allowing the driver to see what's going on behind the vehicle. Other apps too can be installed on this system. The touch screen will have pinch and zoom features including gestures since it uses the Android OS it will be easy to use just like a smartphone or a tablet.

The Honda Connect will also give driver's access to the Honda App Centre to download and install additional apps that will help in further personalizing their experience with the vehicle and the system.
