“Homeland” Season 6 is currently in development. Mandy Patinkin, who plays Saul Berenson, recently shared his expectations in the new episodes.

Showtime executive David Nevins has shared that Season 6 will be shot in New York City. After the past seasons were shot in various locations outside the US, the actors may be glad to be back. Fans were also wary that there may be new real-world threats focused on New York City, in particular, because of the show’s current location.

“Oh my goodness! I hope the show goes somewhere that makes a profound statement about something broken in this world that in our fictional viewpoint, we might have a suggestion on how to set it right,” Patinkin told People’s Choice.

Melty writes that the actor’s statement may hint that the next season will delve into the events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York City. Considering how the show garnered a lot of popularity for having striking similarities with real world events, a lot of fans were speculating that “Homeland” Season 6 will revisit the tragic events of 9/11.

In the past season, Saul has changed a lot and the CIA operative has been removed from the spotlight several times. There are rumours that his character in the upcoming season will have a new beginning or he may also continue to stay in the background, while Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) continue to shape the plot.

The story will also delve on Carrie and her bipolar condition. Showrunner Alex Gansa mentioned to the New York Times that they always planned to feature her disorder in every season. He said that her bipolar condition significantly affects her decisions and will always play a part in how she reacts to the current situation. Fans should expect to see it again soon. There is also the possibility of music becoming a big part of Carrie’s life in the new season. Danes is also a producer of the show and has some influence on the events surrounding her character.

“Homeland” Season 6 is set to launch sometime in 2016 on Showtime in the US and on Channel Ten in Australia.
