A new season of “Homeland” is currently rolling and the show reflects a lot of alternate takes on current issues, more particularly in America’s political scenery. This only means that particular attention has to be given to the President of The United States, who will be the centre of attention for season 6.

Fortunately, such role is filled in by veteran actress Elizabeth Marvel, who might be a familiar face for those who have been watching a lot of TV. This actress has been present in many films and TV projects which include “Lincoln,” “Law and Order: SVU” and “Fargo.” One of her notable roles would be as Heather Lumbar from “House of Cards.”

This time, she is taking on another political role as Elizabeth Keane in “Homeland” season 6. Considering her stern nature and experience in political drama, there is no doubt that she is the best for the role. In a recent interview, Marvel opened up about what it is like to be a female president, especially in a show that reflects an alternate political landscape.

In an interview with Vulture, Marvel revealed that in preparing for her tough role in “Homeland,” she read a lot. She even went to the extent of contacting some people from DC while shooting “House of Cards,” since it was something that she did not know anything about. She admits that she does not even know if a lot of Americans were paying attention to what happens during the transition period, which is when “Homeland” season 6 takes place.

Marvel also opened up on some little things that she learned while shooting her new role; one of the most notable would be the Presidential Daily Brief. She reveals that she found it quite interesting to know how it transforms depending on who gets to sit in office. Such can take on numerous different styles that adapt to the individual.

When asked who she would pick to serve under between President Donald Trump and Frank Underwood from “House of Cards,” she immediately picked Frank Underwood. When asked why, she explained that Frank Underwood, portrayed by Kevin Spacey, is a much kinder and a much more decent human being.

When asked about what approach she chose to take for the role, she reveals that she does not find herself presidential-looking especially since she does not dress that way. Although she undoubtedly has an authoritative presence, she reveals that she uses her big, low and scary voice at home when she talks to her son; who happens to be excited since his mother is playing the President of the United States.

Homeland” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime in the US. It also airs on Channel TEN in Australia.
