Most viewers would probably think of “Sex and the City” when it is said that Carrie will be hitting New York but this time, it’s a different Carrie on a different network. Showtime has released a new trailer for the sixth season of “Homeland” and Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) has been seen in Brooklyn where she works for a foundation that assists Muslims in America. But, of course, things get twisted yet again.

The the official synopsis for season six says that after thwarting a terrorist attack in Berlin, the next season will pick up several months later and will find Carrie Mathison back in America. She will now be based in Brooklyn, New York, writes TV Line. She has commenced working for a foundation that puts effort into giving aid to Muslims who are based in the US. “Homeland” season 6 will showcase the ramifications of the US presidential election with the whole season taking place between election day and the inauguration. It could be a queer and transitional time to be within the bounds of the government, which is filled with anxiety and a host of many competing interests.

Although Carrie has been brought home to the US in this latest season of “Homeland,” she is still who she had always been. She is still the same old sharp, competent agent and is usually found in risky and unstable situations. Some glimpses of Saul (Mandy Patinkin), Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham), Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) and a new character, the president-elect Elizabeth Keane, who will be played by Elizabeth Marvel.

This new season was filmed and will be mainly set in New York and follows another domestic storyline after many previous seasons of “Homeland.” Showtime’s Gary Lavine had revealed that they are all in awe about how Alex Gansa and his staff are able to reinvent “Homeland” year by year. He also adds that it is exciting to see what they are going to do in bringing the show back to the US and reinventing it like they always do.

Homeland” season 6 will premiere on January 15, 2017 on Showtime.
