“Home and Away” star Steve Peacocke is leaving the soap opera to take a shot at a Hollywood career. The 33-year-old Logie Award winner has filmed his final scenes for the Seven Network show in December, but his character Darryl Braxton will still be seen for most of 2015.

“It wasn’t something I was looking forward to because I love the show and the people I work with so much,” Peacocke told the Daily Telegraph of filming his last scene. “But I think the key to any good TV series or any good storytelling is to leave the audience at the right point, and where we got to go with Brax, we hit a point where it was the best point for him to exit the show. It was the perfect time I guess.”

It’s still a secret how Brax will be departing Summer Bay, but it is perhaps safe to say that the last of the original River Boys will not meet his untimely demise in the show. As Peacocke confided, the “door will always be open for Brax. It’s been written in a really clever way.”

He isn’t the only one leaving the show. He will also be taking his new wife with him. Bridgette Sneddon, who plays Sophie Taylor in the soap, is joining her husband in Los Angeles, California. Like Peacocke, the 28-year-old actress has already filmed the last of her scenes in December.

After nine years of dating, Sneddon and Peacocke married in December in a private ceremony. Sneddon entered the show in June 2013, three years after Peacocke’s Brax was introduced.

“I’m excited about the future!” Sneddon told TV Week about her upcoming adventures in America with Peacocke, whom she called a great actor. “I love any chance I get to work with him,” she gushed about the 33-year-old soap star.

Apart from the loved-up couple, Demi Harman, who plays Sasha Bezmel, will also be exiting the award-winning soap. Her final scenes where shot in October.

Harman’s exit was announced earlier in November. Like Peacocke and Sneddon, she left the show to try her luck in Hollywood. Fans of the soap should expect “tears, tears and more tears” in the episodes leading to her last.

“Leading up to finishing was so traumatic, it was so scary,” the 21-year-old actress told the Daily Telegraph in November. “Letting go of something you have known and loved for three-and-a-half years was traumatic.”

Sasha entered “Home and Away” in 2011. Her final episodes will be aired mid-2015.
