Back to the Bay reports that on Wednesday, Evie and Josh are shocked upon learning the truth about the explosion. Meanwhile, Skye reconnects with Tank, and Maddy struggles with a difficult decision between two lives.

Network Seven posted a sneak peek for the May 18 episode. In the preview video, Evie and Josh discuss about Maddy, and the ongoing search for her. Evie feels especially down about the situation, considering the recent tragic events. “It just feels like it’s one thing after the other,” she says.

In another trailer, Maddy is seen struggling to get to the phone. Elsewhere, Tari looks at Evie and Josh from afar. He tells Leah that he wants to admit he’s responsible for the accident. Leah lashes at him, saying “I decide when they find out, not you.” Another scene shows Skye, who confronts Tank about the person he is protecting. The last scene shows Maddy trying to get up, but ends up losing consciousness on the floor.

"Home and Away" recap

On Tuesday, Matt and Roo lose it after learning that Maddy is missing. Alf immediately organised a manhunt with Summer Bay residents. Matt worried that Maddy might do something stupid because she’s not thinking straight lately. Elsewhere, Maddy was seen entering an empty house. She briefly left to visit Oscar’s grave. “I’m sorry I missed your funeral,” she said. “I’m sorry about a lot of things. This is me now. No one really knows what to say about it, to make things better.” She wished Oscar was there, and put a photo of them together on top of his grave. Later, Alf got a call from someone who saw Maddy. He rushed to the cemetery with Matt, but when they got there, she’s already gone.

Tanya arrived, on a warpath, and lashed at Roo for what happened. An argument ensued between the two, with Tanya accusing Roo of turning Maddy against her. Alf reassured Roo that she had been more of a mother to Maddy than Tanya ever was. Later, Tori arrived and shared with them about Maddy’s medical results. It appeared that Maddy has contracted a serious infection, and told them that they should find her within 24 hours, or it might turn into a life-threatening condition.

Speaking of Tori, she managed to get the promotion as the new head of the Emergency Department. Nate was devastated, especially since he thought his interview went well. Tori and Nate even had a flirty banter while waiting for their turn to be interviewed. When he shared the news to Ricky, she tried to comfort him but was rebuffed.

Meanwhile, after a whole night without medication, Maddy started to feel weak. She fell down to the floor.
