Australians may scrimp on some other things but definitely, not with their holidays.

A recent survey revealed that Aussies don't care if they spend a lot for vacations. In fact, they are the world's highest spenders in this category.Australians usually make at least three international trips a year despite unfavourable economic trends, the survey said.

Australian tourists spend an average of $3715 for a trip, which is almost double the global average of $1507. And, in the next two years, Australians do not intend to reduce their budget for holidays as the forecast is for the average travel budget of Aussies to remain above $3562.

As for their travel destinations, most Australian tourists prefer to go to the UK especially in the next two years. This is probably because of the 2012 Olympic Games which will be held in London. The Olympic Games has always been a crowd drawer with millions of tourists from all over the world flocking to the Olympic site.

A second favourite destination is the US with New Zealand next.
