Even before Hillary Clinton made a public announcement on Sunday that she is running in the presidential race in 2016 under the Democratic Party, United States President Barack Obama believes Clinton will make an excellent leader. Obama recalled on Saturday that Clinton was his strong contender for the presidential position in the 2008 general elections.

The president added that if Clinton finally decides to run, the public should expect Clinton to deliver powerful messages. In particular, Obama said he is expecting his former cabinet member to present her “vision for the country moving forward.”

On Sunday, Clinton indeed, expressed her intent to win the White House via a two-minute video. Obama also uttered his appreciation over Clinton’s contribution when the latter served as Secretary of the State from 2009 to 2013 under the present administration.

Clinton’s foreign policy during Obama’s first term was, according to Obama, laudable, being able to handle herself well in any conversations that took place around foreign policy. He added that Clinton’s record concerning domestic policy centred on working families.

It can be recalled that Clinton expressed her first intent in leading the country in the 2008 elections, but withdrew on June 3, 2008 when she lost the nomination of Democratic Party in several states. Subsequently, she ceased her campaign and instead indorsed Obama. Also on Saturday, Obama claimed Clinton is a “friend, a great supporter in the general election and an outstanding secretary of state.”

Weeks earlier, Clinton was the centre of a political controversy when the House of Committee was investigating the attack against the U.S. consular compound in Benghazi, Libya. She provoked altercation when she stated that she deleted all emails and cleared her servers used during her capacity as the secretary of state.

Despite that however, Clinton remains to be a strong candidate. She has an impressive background when it comes to politics as she has served as a senator representing New York from 2001 to 2009. Prior to that, she also served as the first lady from 1993 to 2001.

Obama’s opinion of Clinton’s bid for the highest position in the United States was issued during the Summit of the Americas in Panama, where he was photographed by the press shaking the hand of Cuban President Raul Castro.
