The much awaited Microsoft Lumia flagships are here. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL were unveiled alongside other Microsoft products such as the Surface Pro 4, the Surface Book and the Microsoft Band 2 smartband.

Microsoft also revealed the release date and pricing for the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL smartphones. Both the Lumia flagships will be available from November, according to ZD Net.

The reason behind delaying the release of the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL until next month is the Redmond giant wants to release both handsets with the ‘Threshold 2’ edition of Windows 10 Mobile scheduled to be ready by November.

The Lumia 950 and the 950 XL are both available in a native storage edition of 32 GB. The Lumia 950 will be available for $549 (AU$765) and the bigger Lumia 950 XL will be available for $649 (AU$904).

Microsoft hasn’t yet released any information on the carriers that will support the new Lumia flagships. It also didn’t reveal the country availability details during the launch event.

The Lumia 950 features a 5.2-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen that delivers a 564 ppi pixel density. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 808 chipset and carries 3 GB of RAM. It comes packing a 3,000 mAh battery.

The Lumia 950 XL phablet comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen that produces a pixel count of 518 ppi. It’s powered by Snapdragon 810 and has 3 GB of RAM. It features a bigger battery with a capacity of 3,340 mAh.

The Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL come with common features such as support for 200 GB of microSD on external storage; Windows 10 Mobile OS; a 20 MP camera enabled with triple LED flash; a 5 MP selfie camera; an iris scanner and wireless charging.

Microsoft has also unveiled a low-budget phone called the Lumia 550 that features a 4.7-inch HD AMOLED display. It features a Snapdragon 210 chipset; 1 GB of RAM; inbuilt storage of 8 GB; a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. It will be available for $139 (AU$139) in December this year, Arts Techina reported.
