A new teaser of the next part of “Hell on Wheels” Season 5 has surfaced online. The trailer shows that Durant will be in big trouble and his past sins will catch up with him. The video also teases a severely wounded Bohannan.

[Spoiler alert]

The TV series is racing towards the completion of the first Transcontinental Railroad of the US. The teaser video posted on Yahoo shows Executive Producer John Wirth teasing that they have the opportunity to finish some of the stories they started many years ago.

Anson Mount (Cullen Bohannan) said that the big question they asked themselves in this season was if the railroad was worth it. The railroad was a historic feat and had changed the face of the US forever, but it came at a big price.

Jennifer Ferrin (Louise Ellison) pointed out that even though the railroad has been an important part of the TV series, the show has really been about the characters involved and their personal journeys. Ferrin said that the focus of the next part of “Hell on Wheels” Season 5 was going to be about whether the crooked characters like Chang (Byron Mann) are going to win or if the underdogs like Eva (Robin McLeavy), who have been striving, find fulfillment.

Producer Tom Brady teased that one of the broader themes of the last half of the season deals with a question of whether a country and a man can be redeemed from their sins. The person in question here is Bohannan. Mount said that his focus in the last 14 episodes of the show was to break his character down rather than build him up. “I’m more interested in weakness of characters than I’m of strengths and the weakening of Bohannan is something I’ve never really seen in a Western,” Mount said.

While the video teases a wounded Bohannan lying on his back, Thomas Durant (Colm Meaney) is also in considerable trouble. The trailer of “Hell on Wheels” Season 5 shows the character being taken out of his comfortable coach and smacked across the face. Meaney said that his character seems to be meeting one catastrophe after another and the actor said that he only wants to see his character survive when the TV series ends.
