Harry Styles may or may not leave One Direction, but he will be pursuing an acting career, according to a new report. The 22-year-old English heartthrob has been reportedly offered a lead role in Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk.”

Mashable reports that the boyband crooner, who is arguably the most famous member in the group, might pursue a new direction in his career next. He was apparently offered a lead role in the new project by the “Inception” filmmaker. If he accepts, he will be starring alongside up-and-coming British actors like Jack Lowden, Aneurin Barnard and newcomer Fionn Whitehead.

According to the site, “by all indications,” Styles will accept the role. A source close to the project told Mashable that Styles is ready to star in the four-way ensemble film. “Dunkirk,” described as a World War II action-adventure that will revolve around the four characters’ involvement in the evacuation of Dunkirk, France, in 1940, will also feature Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance.

E! News reported in August that the young singer was mulling on pursuing a solo career, not in music, but in acting. By that time, he was still not sure about the roles he was being offered as he was still waiting for the right role. And it looks like the right role has come.

News about Styles leaving the band has been floating around for months, and which became stronger after former member Zayn Malik released his first lead single, “Pillowtalk,” in January. Styles has left the One Direction’s management team, Modest Management, and turned to Jeffrey Azoff.

Leaving the band’s management firm doesn’t necessary equate to leaving the band itself, but fans fear Styles is heading towards that direction.

“Harry is done with One Direction. He wants to completely disassociate with the band and that includes any professional connection,” an insider told The Sun. “His new team will be about launching him as a solo superstar by around this time next year so the work is starting now.”

One Direction also includes Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. Each member of the group auditioned as solo performers in the Britisth “The X Factor” in 2010 but was grouped together in the bootcamp stage of the competition. They finished third place in the show.
