Emma Watson proving that she's not just an actress to be put on the side has given an empowering speech about gender inequality. The former Hogwarts alumni certainly left an impression for her new United Nations initiative "HeForShe" in New York City. In addition, Watson also called out to men across the nation and challenged them to be part of gender equality.

After being named as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Emma Watson has certainly stepped up her game for the part. From joining an online protest against a sexist remark made by a Turkish politician to travelling to Uruguay for women empowerment for politics, Emma has definitely been taking action.

The British actress' latest move now involves a speech that has called out the attention of men. Watson urges men to be part of gender equality mainly because it is their issue as well. During a speech in New York City, Watson talked about gender inequality as part of her latest UN Campaign named "HeForShe."

"I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women's rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop," stated Watson, adding, "Men - I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too."

While a number of her fans have doled out support for her speech, a number of critics claim Watson knows nothing about feminism. On the other hand, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon had nothing but great things to say about Watson's speech.

"She's been using her magic wand in her movie. I hope she will use [her] magic want to stop violence against women. Again, thank you very much for shining your spotlight on this life-saving work," stated the UN Secretary General.

Hopefully, after Watson's moving speech, men from around the world would take part in the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador's campaign for gender equality, "HeForShe." For one, all "Potterheads" are sure to take part in it as support for the brightest witch of her age, Hermione Granger played by Emma Watson.
